Day 4: Take seventeen

“Try not to panic, friend. I know your instinct is gonna be to panic. It was mine, too.” This is the seventeenth recording of Day 4. He is not starting again.

Hammerhead attended Day 4 in a pocket.

The loop is not a theory on Day 4. It is the production log: “This is the 17th recording I’ve done of day four. But I’m not starting again.” On take seventeen, Hammerhead, who had been in a pocket from the start, came out of it. He’d like it known that it was a dive, not a fall, and that it counts as his audition.

The simulmake, and K.A.

He tries to remember the man who discovered the temple in Japan in 1986. “His initials were K.A. That’s all I remember.” The Council has asked us to stop finding that interesting.

“Simulmake movies are important. Don’t think about Barbenheimer.” He admits the animated days “probably should have led with a real widescreen thing”. See the simulmake.

Casting

“You know Hammerhead, right, from Villain Con, I keep mentioning every year.” Hammerhead is hoping for a part in the new movie. Not The City of Gold: “how’s he gonna play a part if it’s just on land?” He wants the underwater one, the temple at Yonaguni.

He’s half human, half hammerhead shark, and not the good way around. Somebody’s gonna break the news to him. It’s not gonna be me.

For the underwater film, casting asked Hammerhead whether he can hold his breath. He asked them the same question.

The threat

“70% of the internet is currently at risk.” The blogs from fifteen years ago have been found, and the hackers “got bored, as they should, with text, so they’re attacking your videos. You know AI, right? Let’s not get into it. Just relax, please.”

The hand-off

The silver screen seance is about to start. The lights are about to dim. Turn your phone off. Look me in the eyes, and pay attention.

Day 4

Day 4 was recorded seventeen times. The Council does not accept an eighteenth. That’s how a loop ends.
