The Council

Nobody has seen the Council. Everybody has read its notices. It issues embargoes and public statements, approves funding, and in 2026 it commandeered a theatre.

Day 1: a Council notice beside the host saying the Mystic Theatre has been commandeered for the week
By order of the Council. The owner was compensated with a lamp.

The Council governs Villain Con. It decides who speaks, in what order, and what may be shown. Its decisions are final, and it does not explain them. In 2026 the host said so himself, on Day 5: “Villain Con, the council, they’re in charge. I’m just some sort of puppet that is speaking on their behalf.”

Rulings on the record

2021
Does not believe in the host’s methods of choosing sidekicks (see: what happened in Prague). The official licensed hoodie arrived under embargo and could not be shown.
2022
Made a public statement about Hammerhead’s talk, just to punish him. Cleared the host’s purchase of the rights to clouds, and funded it.
2024
Ordered: “Don’t do silly things like time travel anymore.” Came to the host about AI, not to Hammerhead. He wants that on record.
2026
Took the old-fashioned big screen off the humans. Commandeered the Mystic Theatre for the Silver Screen Seance. Ordered the host to take something off your plate.

The house rules

Day 3 records the rule the Council gave the founders of LEAVESNUTS: no eyes on the public, no humming. You do it the regular way, or nothing. The rules said nothing about screens. See The Real Thing.

The airborne virus policy

Masks must be worn in public. This is not the public. If you’re watching this, you’re not the public either. The mask came off on Day 1 and came back out on Day 5. Nobody put it on. That’s a loop, not a policy.

Corridor speak

Things the Council says in corridors are not rulings. They are corridor speak, and should be taken with a grain of sodium chloride. The Day 5 rumour is corridor speak. Salt is available at the back.

Admission

The attendance form asks for your disguise name, not your name. It is personalised and embargoed. If you weren’t invited, you’re not invited. You’re reading this anyway. Noted.

All of the Council’s notices from the week are on the notice board.
